Lea Blanchez joined the Human Rights Cities Network as Project Coordinator in April 2025. She focuses on the coordination and implementation of DeCiDE which is a project aimed at strengthening urban democracy and human rights practices in Europe.
Lea holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration and International and European Governance from Leiden University, with a focus on democratic governance, migration and anti-discrimination policies, and civil society participation. She has worked at the European Commission’s DG INTPA, supporting initiatives to strengthen civil society and local authorities’ engagement within EU international cooperation.
Passionate about inclusive local governance and people-centered policymaking, Lea believes cities play a key role in making human rights a reality in people’s daily lives. She is particularly interested in participatory democracy, gender equality, social justice and enabling environments for civic engagement.
