Julia is a Human Rights master’s graduate from the London School of Economics and Political Science, where she specialised in migration and refugee rights. She also has an MA (Hons) degree in Social Policy and Sociology from the University of Edinburgh, which combined with her master’s has led her to a career in human rights advocacy and policy.
She is passionate about advocating for the rights of refugees and increasing youth engagement in decision-making processes. As a young person herself, she believes that increasing political participation amongst young people is imperative for true democracy and creating a more inclusive society. Having lived in five countries and grown up in multicultural environments, she strongly believes in fostering solidarity, diversity and inclusivity as they are the backbones of a strong and sustainable society.
During her time with the Human Rights Cities Network, she will support the communication strategies and hopes to advance the adoption of international human rights frameworks at the local level in a context-specific and bottom-up approach. In addition to her work with HRCN, she is an Advocacy Intern for the European Centre for Democracy and Human Rights.
