Local Governments and Human Rights

We take part of this event. Let’s meet us.

The Human Rights Cities Network is invited by the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) and the UCLG Committee on Social Inclusion, Participatory Democracy and Human Rights to a meeting organized on June 17, in Geneva, at the Palais Wilson. This event will count with the participation of OHCHR’s Deputy High Commissioner, Kate Gilmore. This meeting will explore local government shared challenges, initiatives and aspirations in carrying out human rights action at the local and global levels. It aims at recognizing and highlighting local governments work on the protection and the promotion of human rights by the UN system and contribute to on-going processes including the report on the role of “Local government in promoting and protecting human rights”, to be presented at the Human Rights Council by September 2019.
